Dear Visitors, We are pleased to inform you that, from June onwards, the Notranjska Museum Postojna will be extending its opening hours. The museum will be open from Tuesday to Sunday, between 10 a.m. and 6 p.m. On Sunday, 7 June 2026, free admission to the museum will be offered to all residents of Postojna, Pivka, Cerknica and the Loška Dolina area. Visitors may enjoy the permanent exhibition The Karst Museum, including new additions in the basement, the outdoor depot area and lapidarium, the temporary exhibition Crime and Fruit, which explores the phenomenon of graffiti, as well as the children’s corner Jamar Junior. Foreign visitors may make free use of audio guides available in Slovenian, Italian and English. For those seeking adventure, we recommend taking part in the KARSTHUNT experience. Do you know the song “Sound of da Police”? Today, our museum was visited by rapper KRS-One, who completely captivated us with his energy. While exploring the “Karst Museum,” he came in search of nature — and found graffiti instead! Fascinated by the exhibition “Crime and the Fruit,” which explores the many layers and meanings of graffiti, he promised to return in the coming months to give a lecture at our museum. KRS-One, whose real name is Lawrence Krisna Parker, is considered one of the most influential figures of old-school hip hop. He rose to fame in the 1980s as the leader of the group Boogie Down Productions and became known for his socially conscious lyrics, political commentary, and promotion of conscious rap. His stage name stands for “Knowledge Reigns Supreme Over Nearly Everyone.” Among his best-known classics are Sound of da Police, My Philosophy, and MC's Act Like They Don't Know. KRS-One is current

The Notranjska Museum Postojna will be open during the May holidays from Tuesday to Sunday, between 10am and 5pm. It will be closed only on Monday, 27 April. Visitors may explore the permanent exhibition The Karst Museum, including its extended section in the basement, as well as the new outdoor depot and lapidarium, and the temporary exhibition Crime and Fruit, which examines the phenomenon of graffiti in the Postojna area. Foreign visitors are offered complimentary audio guides in Italian and German.
