Ozbič Barber Shop
The legendary barber shop with the longest beard in Postojna came to life in 2021 with its original equipment and a new story. The space combines a century-old tradition and the expertise of legends from the Ozbič family with modern barbering and hairdressing techniques. Take a seat in Ozbič's chairs and indulge in nostalgia! Janko Ozbič's life revolved around barber chairs and hairdressing techniques for more than seventy years. The craft was instilled in him from an early age, and he remembers the barbershop above which they lived since his childhood. At the age of thirteen, he picked up the scissors and began to work. He shaved and styled hair tirelessly until he was 89 years old when changes in legislation on this type of work forced him to retire.
Ozbič Barber Shop is undoubtedly an example of best practice of a successful reinforcement of local craftsmanship. Among other things, it aims to provide professional services and train young local apprentices, for whom the unique experiences and knowledge from this renowned salon will be an important foundation and motivation for successful work and the continuation of the tradition in this salon. All of this is done with pride and desire to preserve and revive the experience of the iconic barbershop with the longest beard in Slovenia. The main source of inspiration for the entire story, all the efforts for renovation and the new look, as well as the content, is undoubtedly 95-year-old Janko Ozbič, a local master whose legacy we wish to continue, bringing him joy and pride.
In 2017, the Ozbič family building was leased to the Municipality of Postojna, which embarked on a project to secure European funding for its renovation. After the revitalization of the building was carried out, the management of the property on behalf of the tenant was taken over by the Zavod Znanje Postojna (Knowledge Postojna Public Institution). The barbershop and hair salon tradition, in its distinctive and modern style, was reopened by the renowned Slovenian barber Luka Nebec, who approaches his work with utmost dedication, evident in his mastery of straight razor shaving. He preserves the authentic barbering culture in his work and ensures that every customer enjoys a true barbering experience. Luka Nebec is a successful entrepreneur who runs his own salon in the center of Ljubljana and establishes his own mobile barbershop. He feels a special affinity towards the story of the Postojna salon, especially great respect for the heritage of the past and the master whose salon he hosts.
